If you are using Microsoft Edge and encountering the message:
"[filename] isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust [filename] before you open it",
Follow these steps to fix the download issue:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- In the top-right corner, click on the three dots (...) to open the menu, then select Settings.
- On the left-hand side, click on Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll down to the Security section.
- Find Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
- Toggle the switch to Off to disable SmartScreen filtering. This will allow you to download the file without getting the warning.
Note: Disabling SmartScreen reduces some protection, so only proceed with trusted downloads after doing this.
- Download the Software: Once SmartScreen is disabled, proceed to download the software.
- Return to the Software Installation Process: Once the download is complete, follow the installation steps for all users outlined here.
- Re-enable SmartScreen: After installing the software, turn SmartScreen back on by following the same steps and toggling it back to on for continued security.
