Our Offices
Houston, Texas
Ryder Scott Company, founded in 1937, established its headquarters in Houston, Texas, to position itself at the epicenter of the global energy industry. Houston, often referred to as the world's energy capital, is home to numerous oil and gas corporations, making it a strategic location for a firm specializing in petroleum consulting. The city’s vibrant energy sector provided an ideal base for Ryder Scott to deliver its services effectively.
As the company’s primary hub, the Houston office specializes in a broad spectrum of services to support the oil and gas industry. These include:
- Reserves Evaluation: The Houston office is a leader in reserve estimation and certification, providing independent evaluations for proven, probable, and possible reserves, contingent and prospective resources. These evaluations comply with standards set by the United States Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), the Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS), and other international guidelines.
- Economic Analysis: The team delivers in-depth financial assessments, including cash flow projections, investment appraisals, and risk analysis, to aid clients in making informed business decisions.
- Transaction Advisory Services: Houston’s team supports mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures by conducting due diligence, asset valuations, and market analyses.
- Field Optimization: The office provides strategies to maximize production and extend the life of oil and gas fields, ensuring optimal recovery and cost-efficiency.
- Reservoir Simulation: The Houston team models reservoir performance using advanced simulation technologies to support reserves estimates, predict outcomes, and design effective development plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assisting clients with adherence to regulatory requirements, including SEC and other financial markets, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.
- Sustainability: The Sustainability Team has conducted studies on many of today’s existing and planned Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Hydrogen projects in the U.S. and internationally.
The Houston office was established with the vision of creating a central hub that could provide unmatched expertise to the energy industry.  The city’s strong infrastructure, access to industry talent, and proximity to key clients made it an essential base for Ryder Scott’s operations.
The Houston office serves a dual purpose: acting as the global headquarters and delivering hands-on consulting services. It also serves as a training ground for the firm’s professionals, ensuring they remain at the forefront of industry trends and technologies.
Since its founding, the Houston office has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and reputation. It serves as the backbone of Ryder Scott’s operations worldwide, facilitating collaboration across its branches and ensuring consistency in the quality of services.
The Houston team has worked on some of the industry’s most significant projects, supporting national oil companies, independent operators, major oil and gas companies and the investing community. The office’s evaluations are highly regarded for their accuracy and transparency, often forming the basis of financial transactions and regulatory filings.
Denver, Colorado
Ryder Scott Company, one of the leading petroleum consulting firms globally, established its Denver, Colorado, branch in 1981. This expansion was strategically planned to address the growing demand for specialized energy consulting services in the Rocky Mountain region, an area rich in natural resources and characterized by unique geological formations. By creating a presence in Denver, Ryder Scott ensured better accessibility for clients operating in this pivotal energy market while maintaining its commitment to delivering world-class expertise.
The Denver office is known for its specialization in reserves and resource evaluations, field optimization, and reservoir engineering. Â Our Denver office has also become the hub for our geothermal energy consulting services. The team in Denver works closely with clients to ensure the most accurate and insightful assessments. With a focus on tailored solutions, this branch excels in:
- Reserves and Resource Evaluation: Providing independent assessments of oil and gas reserves in compliance with regulatory and industry standards. This includes estimating proved, probable, and possible reserves for conventional and unconventional resources.
- Field Optimization: Analyzing reservoir performance and developing strategies to maximize production and extend field life. The office's expertise is particularly vital for operators in the Rockies, where complex geology requires precise engineering solutions.
- Economic Analysis: Offering economic evaluations and forecasts to support investment decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and development planning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assisting clients with adherence to regulatory requirements, including SEC and state guidelines such as imposed by the state of Colorado, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.
- Geothermal Energy: Our Denver office has spearheaded Ryder Scott’s projects in Geothermal Energy rapidly acquiring greater experience and the trust of our clients.
The establishment of Ryder Scott’s Denver branch was driven by the need to provide localized expertise to clients in the Rockies and surrounding regions. The diverse geology of this area, including unconventional shale plays like the Niobrara and Powder River Basin, required specialized knowledge and hands-on support. The Denver office was designed to bridge the gap between clients’ operational needs and Ryder Scott’s extensive technical expertise, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
Since its inception, the Denver office has played an important role in Ryder Scott’s overall success. It has enabled the company to build lasting relationships with regional operators, offering them not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of local challenges and opportunities.
Additionally, Denver’s team frequently collaborates with the Houston headquarters, ensuring that clients benefit from a unified approach to consulting. This synergy allows Ryder Scott to leverage its global knowledge base while delivering solutions that address the specific needs of the Rockies.
Calgary, Canada
Ryder Scott established its Canada office in Calgary in 1995, strategically positioning itself to better serve the needs of the Canadian oil and gas industry. With a focus on providing reserves evaluation, geological and reservoir engineering studies, and field economics assessments, the Calgary branch quickly became an integral part of Ryder Scott’s operations in Canada and beyond. Our Canadian branch quickly positioned itself to also provide services to our Eastern European clients.
The decision to open the office was driven by logistical advantages, allowing the firm to work closely with the oil and gas companies based in Calgary and to provide timely, high-quality services to clients. The Calgary office allowed the company to better address client needs while leveraging a talented local pool of engineers and geologists.
